Prologue
I know this book is probably boring and "drags" in parts, but I believe all the information provided was necessary to an understanding of what happens in my life and how it developed over my lifetime. My house, as well as the other houses in my neighborhood, is absolutely haunted. Whether or not the residents are willing to admit their houses are haunted is a matter of personal beliefs and choices. My next door neighbor once approached me and asked if I believed in hauntings; of course, I do. She told me about their cabinet doors opening and closing in the kitchen; about their bedroom television turning on and off all night long; furniture being rearranged, and the voices. I assured her she was not insane. A neighbor on the corner approached me with the same questions and complaints about a year after the lady next door to me. We all have the same occurrences, but unlike a certain movie about a subdivision built over graves, there was never a graveyard on our properties. Regarding Native American burial sites, well it is easy enough to place the blame there except, it is just that--easy; however, there is no proof. My Dad loved to walk the woods behind our property and he did make several discoveries, one of which was a huge mound. It is possible to place the blame on an Indian burial ground nearby, but that is so cliché and so easy; however, not impossible.
I wonder, as many others, why I can see things no one else can; why I have certain "abilities" that few others seem to possess, and why I am blessed with so many spirits in my home. I like to believe that they feel comfortable and welcome here--they are--and protect my home and family in return. I would entertain the thought of banishing these friendly spirits. They protect me, my home, and my family. Sam, and now the other spirits keep a demon at bay. How he came to be here I do not know for certain, but it could have something to do with using a Ouija board as a teen. It was a pass time for me and my friends. We did not know any better at that time. Anyway, in exchange for their protection, they are welcome here for as long as they walk the earth.
I would welcome a professional investigation, but hesitate in permitting one because I do not know what may occur in the process or later. Often, the spirits here do not understand that we are not going to send them away. They have a purpose and mean no harm to good people. However, sometimes they misconceive others as a threat to both us and them. They fear being sent away, of the demon getting to us, and of physical harm befalling us or the property. In a way, I believe I am protecting the spirits here as they protect us and we work in unison so perfectly.
